Adams County Sheriff Under Fire After Posting Graphic Meme Mocking Protesters Being Run Over

Adams County Sheriff James Muller, a Republican, is facing growing backlash after posting a graphic meme on Facebook depicting a blood-stained pickup truck labeled “the all-new Dodge Ram: Protester Edition.” The post went up as thousands of Pennsylvanians were participating in the nationwide “No Kings” protest — and just days after a driver in Virginia ran over demonstrators, injuring multiple people.

Residents called the post disturbing, dangerous, and unacceptable for a public official charged with public safety. Community members said it promoted violence at a time when political attacks are already rising nationwide. Even voters who supported Muller expressed disappointment, saying the post normalizes harm against people exercising their First Amendment rights.

The Sheriff’s Office has refused to comment, and county commissioners have not responded to inquiries, leaving constituents demanding accountability on their own. Many say the sheriff should apologize or resign for using his platform to push violent imagery targeting protesters.

Muller’s critics argue that this is part of a broader pattern of Republican officials using social media to flirt with political violence and antagonize their own communities. As residents in Adams County continue calling for consequences, the sheriff’s refusal to address his post raises even deeper concerns about judgment, professionalism, and the safety of people he is sworn to protect.
