Doug Mastriano Attacks His Own Party Over Early Endorsement of Stacy Garrity for Governor

State Sen. Doug Mastriano is once again fueling GOP infighting, publicly blasting Pennsylvania Republicans for endorsing Treasurer Stacy Garrity in the 2026 governor’s race just weeks after she launched her campaign. Mastriano, still nursing the wounds of his landslide loss to Gov. Josh Shapiro in 2022, has repeatedly complained that party leaders are trying to clear the field for Garrity while shutting out hard-right candidates like himself.

While Garrity is busy positioning herself against Shapiro, Mastriano is spending his time attacking fellow Republicans and accusing the state party of rigging the process. His ongoing grievances highlight a widening divide between establishment Republicans and the far-right MAGA faction he leads. Instead of uniting behind a candidate, the GOP is now fighting itself in public as Mastriano hints he might jump into the race anyway.

The result is a Republican Party entering the 2026 cycle already fractured, with its two leading factions more interested in tearing each other down than beating Democrats.
