Greene County Republican Chairman Charged After Allegedly Threatening to “Poke Out” Woman’s Eyes at Party Meeting
The chairman of the Greene County Republican Party, Clint Blaney, is facing criminal charges after investigators say he threatened a legislative aide during a GOP event in Waynesburg. According to the state Attorney General’s office, Blaney became enraged at a 2023 Republican gathering and told the woman he would “poke your eyes out and slit your throat” after she questioned why her boss, Republican state Rep. Bud Cook, had been excluded from a slideshow.
Witnesses told investigators that Blaney confronted the aide twice, first berating her in front of the room and later approaching her with what they described as an aggressive and hostile demeanor. The aide began crying, and another attendee intervened to pull Blaney away. Multiple people reported seeing her leave the event in tears.
A private criminal complaint was forwarded to the Attorney General’s office, which charged Blaney just days before the statute of limitations expired. Blaney now faces misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats and harassment. The longtime Republican activist has refused to comment on whether he plans to remain as county chair, while his attorney says he denies the allegations.
Blaney has led the Greene County GOP since 2023. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 17.
